# Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server instances should use a standard-supported major version

## Description{% #description %}

Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server instances should run a PostgreSQL major version covered by Azure Standard Support. Standard Support for PostgreSQL 11, 12, and 13 ended on July 31, 2026. Servers using those versions require Extended Support and should be upgraded. This control passes versions 14 and later, which are covered by Standard Support as of September 2026.

## Remediation{% #remediation %}

Upgrade the Flexible Server instance to PostgreSQL 14 or later. Review Azure's [PostgreSQL version policy](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/postgresql/configure-maintain/concepts-version-policy) before selecting the target version, and follow the [major version upgrade guidance](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/postgresql/configure-maintain/how-to-perform-major-version-upgrade) to perform the upgrade.
