# Uninstall vsftpd Package

The `vsftpd` package can be removed with the following command:

```
 $ apt-get remove vsftpd
```

Removing the `vsftpd` package decreases the risk of its accidental activation.

## Remediation{% #remediation %}

The following script can be run on the host to remediate the issue.

```bash
#!/bin/bash

# CAUTION: This remediation script will remove vsftpd
# from the system, and may remove any packages
# that depend on vsftpd. Execute this
# remediation AFTER testing on a non-production
# system!


DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get remove -y "vsftpd"
```
