# Tenancies must contain at least one notification topic and subscription to receive alerts

## Description{% #description %}

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) uses the Notifications service to broadcast messages to distributed components through a publish-subscribe pattern. Tenancies must contain at least one active notification topic and subscription to ensure monitoring alerts and critical events are properly received and routed to the appropriate teams or systems. Topics and subscriptions can be created in any compartment within the tenancy.

## Remediation{% #remediation %}

For each tenancy, create at least one active notification topic with at least one active subscription. For detailed guidance, refer to the [Managing Topics](https://docs.oracle.com/iaas/Content/Notification/Tasks/manage-topic.htm) and [Managing Subscriptions](https://docs.oracle.com/en-us/iaas/Content/Notification/Tasks/manage-subscription.htm) sections of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure documentation.
