# Azure API Management Compatibility Requirements

## App and API Protection capabilities{% #app-and-api-protection-capabilities %}

The following App and API Protection capabilities are supported in Azure API Management (APIM) for the specified Datadog APIM callout image version:

| App and API Protection capability | Minimum Datadog APIM callout image version |
| --------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------ |
| HTTP Monitoring                   | 2.8.0                                      |
| API Security                      | 2.8.0                                      |
| Account Takeover Protection       | 2.8.0                                      |

The minimum Datadog APIM callout image version to get all supported App and API Protection capabilities for Azure API Management (APIM) is 2.8.0.

### Body processing support{% #body-processing-support %}

The following payload types have full body processing support in Datadog APIM callout image:

| Payload type | Minimum Datadog APIM callout image version |
| ------------ | ------------------------------------------ |
| JSON         | v2.8.0                                     |

## Azure API Management tier support{% #azure-api-management-tier-support %}

The Datadog Azure API Management integration for App and API Protection runs the callout service inside a virtual network and requires Azure API Management virtual network integration. The following table shows which Azure API Management tiers are compatible.

| Azure API Management tier | Supported |
| ------------------------- | --------- |
| Developer                 | Yes       |
| Standard v2               | Yes       |
| Premium                   | Yes       |
| Consumption               | No        |

The Consumption tier cannot join a virtual network, so it cannot reach a callout service deployed this way.
