The tftp-server
package can be removed with the following command:
$ sudo yum erase tftp-server
Removing the tftp-server
package decreases the risk of the accidental
(or intentional) activation of tftp services.
If TFTP is required for operational support (such as transmission of router configurations), its use must be documented with the Information Systems Securty Manager (ISSM), restricted to only authorized personnel, and have access control rules established.
The following script can be run on the host to remediate the issue.
#!/bin/bash
# CAUTION: This remediation script will remove tftp-server
# from the system, and may remove any packages
# that depend on tftp-server. Execute this
# remediation AFTER testing on a non-production
# system!
if rpm -q --quiet "tftp-server" ; then
yum remove -y "tftp-server"
fi
The following playbook can be run with Ansible to remediate the issue.
