## Overview{% #overview %}

[Google Cloud Live Stream API](https://cloud.google.com/livestream/docs/overview) transcodes live video and audio streams into a range of bitrates and formats for playback, including HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) and Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH). It generates channel-level metrics on packet delivery, round-trip time, and streaming state, so you can monitor the health of live video distribution.

Use the Datadog Google Cloud Platform integration to collect metrics from Google Cloud Live Stream API.

If you haven't already, set up the [Google Cloud Platform integration](https://docs.datadoghq.com/integrations/google-cloud-platform.md) first. There are no other installation steps.
