# Migration

## Overview{% #overview %}

Moving to Datadog Log Management has two parts: sending your logs to Datadog, and recreating the searches, alerts, and dashboards your teams rely on.

## Send your logs to Datadog{% #send-your-logs-to-datadog %}

Configure the [Datadog Agent](https://docs.datadoghq.com/agent/logs.md) to collect logs from files, containers, and network sources. [Integrations](https://docs.datadoghq.com/integrations.md) that support log collection include their own log configurations.

## Translate your queries and assets{% #translate-your-queries-and-assets %}

After your logs are in Datadog, use [Query Translation](https://docs.datadoghq.com/logs/migration/query_translation.md) to convert Splunk Processing Language (SPL) into Datadog [log search syntax](https://docs.datadoghq.com/logs/explorer/search_syntax.md). Translate a single query at a time, or translate the queries in Splunk alerts and dashboards in bulk and use them to create Datadog monitors and dashboards. Query Translation supports only Splunk as a source platform.
