## Overview{% #overview %}

When an [Azure public IP address](https://learn.microsoft.com/azure/virtual-network/ip-services/public-ip-addresses) is assigned to a resource, it enables inbound communication from the internet and outbound connectivity to the internet.

Use the Datadog Azure integration to collect metrics from Azure public IP addresses.

If you haven't already, set up the [Microsoft Azure integration](https://docs.datadoghq.com/integrations/azure.md) first. There are no other installation steps.
