# Greengrass Core Definition

Greengrass Core Definition in AWS represents a group of Greengrass core devices that manage and run local IoT applications. It defines the configuration for the core, which acts as the central hub in a Greengrass group, enabling local execution of AWS Lambda functions, messaging, and device communication even when disconnected from the cloud.
