# AppStream 2.0 Image

An AppStream 2.0 Image in AWS is a template that contains the operating system, applications, and settings needed to launch streaming instances. It defines the environment that end users interact with when accessing virtualized desktops or applications through AppStream 2.0. Images are created from a base image builder, customized with required software, and then used to provision fleets and stacks for scalable application delivery.
